Your carpets and soft furnishings trap far more than visible dirt. Dust mites, bacteria, pet dander and ground-in allergens build up deep in the fibres over time — way beyond what a domestic vacuum can reach. Professional cleaning removes what regular maintenance leaves behind, restoring your carpets and upholstery to a genuinely clean condition while improving the air quality in your home.
Manchester Cleaner provides expert carpet and upholstery cleaning across Greater Manchester. Our insured, licensed and fully trained technicians inspect your fabric first, then apply the most effective method for your specific material — hot water extraction for synthetic and wool fibres, or dry powder cleaning for delicate and natural fabrics. Every job is carried out with Prochem professional-grade detergents that are eco-friendly and safe for children and pets.
Every booking includes:
Every carpet and upholstery job follows a structured process designed to deliver the deepest possible clean without damaging your fabric. Our technicians treat everything from everyday household carpets and sofas to delicate rugs, mattresses, dining chairs, armchairs and curtains — adapting their method and solutions to suit each specific material.
Scotchgard fabric protection can be applied at the end of the process on request — find out more in the cleaning methods section below.
A word on stains: The older a stain, the harder it is to remove fully. Gum, wax, ink, coffee, cola, rust, red wine, water-based paint and permanent marker all become significantly more resistant to treatment the longer they are left. If you’ve had a spill, book as soon as possible — acting quickly can be the difference between complete removal and a permanent mark.
We offer both the hot water extraction method (steam cleaning), appropriate for synthetic fibres, and the dry powder cleaning method — for natural and delicate fibres. Your technician will inspect your fabric on arrival and recommend the right approach for your specific material, ensuring the best possible result without risking damage.
The hot water extraction method is suitable for synthetic (microfibre, polyester) and woollen materials. It works best because it removes over 95% of the dirt, dust mites and bacteria embedded deep within the fabric fibres — delivering a level of cleanliness that no domestic vacuum or surface clean can match.
How it works: A professional industrial-grade machine injects hot water under high pressure into the fabric and extracts it afterwards, along with the dissolved dirt, allergens and bacteria. Please keep in mind it will take a few hours for the item to dry out completely. We provide a free air mover with every job, which speeds up the drying process by up to 3 times.
NOTE: We use a specialist plastic wand to keep upholstery material safe throughout the treatment, ensuring even, controlled coverage without over-saturating the fabric.
The dry powder cleaning technique is suitable for delicate fabrics that should not be treated with water, such as: 100% cotton, silk, viscose, suede, linen, leather, sisal, jute, Oriental and Persian rugs. Applying moisture to these materials risks shrinkage, colour bleed and permanent fibre damage — dry powder cleaning delivers a thorough deep clean with none of those risks. The dry cleaning method is also great for refreshing the fabric and restoring its appearance without any drying time required.
How it works: The expert technician hoovers the piece and applies a non-toxic absorbent powder across the surface. The professional machine scrubs the powder deep into the fabric using hundreds of small brushes. As a result, all the grime and dirt binds to the powder and is then fully vacuumed out — leaving the fabric clean, fresh and ready to use immediately.
When the cleaning process is done, the technician can apply a Scotchgard stain repellent upon request. The product creates an invisible protective barrier across the fabric fibres, repelling liquids and preventing stains from bonding to the material — giving you more time to clean up a spill before it becomes permanent. It is recommended for high-traffic areas and for homes with children and pets, and works most effectively when applied to freshly cleaned fabric.
NOTE: We also specialise in professional interior bus cleaning in Manchester, carried out by our experienced upholstery cleaning technicians.
